La obra C03_Retiro11_ Av. A. Argentina 1355 es una cita a las características edilicias del Hotel de Inmigrantes y a la manera frágil y violenta de los sistemas de defensa en muros de Argentina.
Me interesó trabajar con archivos de aquellos que pasaron por el Hotel y con la carga intrínseca, presente e inevitable que tiene este edificio.
El proceso migratorio lleva consigo un quiebre con el pasado y a su vez añoranza del mismo. Es en esta dualidad como en la dilución y reformulación de la identidad, que la migración rezuma violencia.
En una sociedad donde la disciplina y la vigilancia encubierta rigen el paradigma, la obra espontáneamente se resignifica. Esta situación me induce a experimentar la imposibilidad, que plantea Thomas Mann, de distinguir entre el “todavía” y el “otra vez”.
The work C03_Retiro11_ Av. A. Argentina 1355 is a quotation of the building characteristics of the Immigrants Hotel and the fragile and violent way of the defense systems in the walls of Argentina.
I was interested in working with the archives of those who passed through the Hotel and with the intrinsic, present and inevitable load that this building has.
The migratory process brings with it a break with the past and at the same time a longing for it. It is in this duality as in the dilution and reformulation of identity that migration oozes violence.
In a society where discipline and covert surveillance rule the paradigm, the work is spontaneously resignified. This situation induces me to experience the impossibility, raised by Thomas Mann, of distinguishing between the "still" and the "again".
